I am excited to sing “Brahms Requiem” with fellow members of the First Baptist Keller Chorale joining singers from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Howard Payne University, and Gambrell Street Baptist Church. To top it off, we are singing with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra! As we rehearsed last night, I was simultaneously humbled, somewhat intimidated, and very thrilled. The opportunity to sing with such talented musicians is a privilege, indeed. Brahms Requiem is a beautiful piece of music; come hear us on April 28 in the Truett Auditorium at the Seminary. I’ll be the guy in the tux. 😉

According to yourdictionary.com, the poet author of “Piers Plowman” is credited with penning “Patience is a virtue.” I was reminded of that today during a telephone conversation with a coworker. Sales, especially in my line of work, is a process. In our conversation my coworker reminded me that it is important to be patient and allow the process to play out, because it will play out over time. It was just what I needed to hear, and I thank God for that conversation at that moment. God can use anybody to achieve His divine purpose. We must pray for His intervention and then tune in, for He may surprise you with His source.

What does this have to do with patience? Sit, sometime, and watch a sunset. You'll understand.

My wife and I are big fans of The Voice on NBC. The talent that graces that stage is absolutely amazing, and we really enjoy watching each artist grow week by week as they heed the advice of their coaches. Voting gets tougher by the week also, but here are my votes based on last night’s performances. These are the 10 artists I would advance to next the next round if it were up to me.

Building a sales pipeline is some of the hardest work I’ve ever done.  It requires diligence, perseverance, patience, research, preparation, and sometimes a thick skin. I find that I perform best in an initial meeting with a new prospect if I drive to the location of the meeting well ahead of time, then locate a local coffee shop in which to decompress and collect my thoughts. Thirty to forty five minutes sitting in a Starbucks may sound like time wasted to some; for me it is time well spent as I put the stress of metropolitan traffic behind me and focus on the task at hand.

For today’s Throwback Thursday I go back just a few years to November 8, 2012 when I got the opportunity to meet, for the second time, General Tommy Franks. I first him in 2008, soon after he joined the Board of Directors of CEC Entertainment, where I was Director of Risk Management. It was a pleasure, although admittedly a tad intimidating, describing our risk management strategy to our newest (and very decorated) board member. General Franks is a true American hero and a fine man. I’m honored to have gotten to meet him – twice!
