This is as close as I’ll ever get to a pedicure. The boot shine guys at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo are true pros. They make any pair of boots look their best and have a great sense of humor in the process. And, as an added bonus, the people watching is great from the vantage point of the shoe-shine “throne”!
Fort Worth is friendly; it’s still a Texas town. It’s the most Texas city in Texas. ~ Dan Jenkins via BrainyQuote.com

Say hello to my new friends. As I walked the grounds of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Saturday, I stopped at this stall and these two walked up and said hello – makes me want to look for acreage so I can take these two home! This pair pulls one of the chuck wagons that race during the rodeo performance. Although they run all-out during the race, here they were as calm, friendly and docile as could be.

Met these two at the FWSSR. Sweet animals!
Give a group of Texans a dance floor and a great band playing fine Texas music and you’ve got yourself a really fun time. In the Rodeo Roadhouse at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo last night, Jolie Holiday and her band offered up some of the finest, ranging all the way from Patsy Cline to Stevie Nicks. I took this pic just as Jolie began one of her Patsy Cline covers. I was just in time; the dance floor was packed soon after.

The Grand Entry was just about finished when I snapped this picture from about 20 feet away from this rider and our American flag. As the flag enters the arena, guests stand as the rider passes before them, then are invited to sit and enjoy the grand entry procession of stock show dignitaries. Sisters Megan and Summer Gay have presented the Colors each of the four years I’ve been involved with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and they do an outstanding job.

It was inevitable. “Stock show weather” has set in, but just for a day or two according to the weatherman. Don’t let a bit of falling moisture keep you from visiting the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Most attractions are indoors, and there is plenty to do! This Thing Is Legendary!™
I don’t want to look like Connecticut, no offense, I don’t want to look like Oklahoma, I don’t want to look like California. I want to be uniquely Texas. And that’s not to diss anybody else. ~ Rick Perry via BrainyQuote.com
It’s raining – so what? Come on out!
I enjoy walking through the livestock barns at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and watching the kids prepare their animals for show. Their knowledge, dedication and diligence are very impressive. This was the busy-ness today in one of our six livestock barns. This is what it’s all about. I’m so pleased to have a small part in it. I hope you’ll come visit. This Thing Is Legendary! TM

“There’s a big difference between me and a real, legitimate working hand, or a world-champion rodeo cowboy. I play ’em, and I aspire to be like that, but those guys are tough.” ~ Luke Perry via BrainyQuote.com
