I hear that The Fort Worth Stock show & Rodeo closed with record attendance and record money raised for Texas youth. The rodeo announcer told the Saturday afternoon crowd that the livestock sale brought in over 3.5 million! Here a young lady shows her steer as it is auctioned. These kids put in a lot of work, and I’m always impressed with their results. Looking forward to next year!

The last day of the 2015 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is tomorrow. I’ve enjoyed my 4th year serving on the Safety Committee. “Western Professional” is the dress code for working the Show. Here I am, ready to head out earlier this year. Lucy snuck one last pat on the head as I prepared to leave.

“Western Professional” is the dress code when working at FWSSR. I like it.
P.S. Yes, I missed my Photo-A-Day post the last two days. Chalk it up to busy at work, stock show duties, and a rather nasty cold. Maybe I’ll change this category to “2015 Photo-Most-Days”!
Say hello to my new friends. As I walked the grounds of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Saturday, I stopped at this stall and these two walked up and said hello – makes me want to look for acreage so I can take these two home! This pair pulls one of the chuck wagons that race during the rodeo performance. Although they run all-out during the race, here they were as calm, friendly and docile as could be.

Met these two at the FWSSR. Sweet animals!
Give a group of Texans a dance floor and a great band playing fine Texas music and you’ve got yourself a really fun time. In the Rodeo Roadhouse at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo last night, Jolie Holiday and her band offered up some of the finest, ranging all the way from Patsy Cline to Stevie Nicks. I took this pic just as Jolie began one of her Patsy Cline covers. I was just in time; the dance floor was packed soon after.

Texas BBQ is quite possibly the world’s perfect food, especially when well prepared. The folks at Red Barn BBQ in Colleyville offer consistently great BBQ in this fine atmosphere. After spending just over an hour and a half at our local vacuum store, we rewarded ourselves with a late, but delectable, BBQ lunch. Don’t let the empty dining room fool you – this was about 3PM.

When you eat lunch at 3PM you have the place to yourself. This is one of my favorite BBQ spots in DFW.
Throwback Thursday. I have friends that post #tbt pictures faithfully; I usually forget until Thursday has rolled into Friday. In my 2015 Photo-A-Day challenge, Thursday postings will have a #tbt flair, that is, if I remember! Since it is rodeo season in Cowtown, I offer this picture of my family, circa 2001, as we prepared to leave for an outing at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. I remember that day vividly, as my wife and I enjoyed giving our kids a taste of Texas’ cowboy heritage. Great memories, indeed!
